Frequently asked questions

Everything most people want to know before sending us their laptop.

Getting a quote

How accurate are your offers?

Our pricing is based on real market data for the exact configuration you're selling. We use a decade of resale market intelligence to set offers — not generic estimates. The number you see is the number you'll be paid, as long as your device matches your description.

What if my laptop isn't in your catalog?

We currently buy back 900+ models from Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and Google. If yours isn't listed, drop us a note and we'll add it to our review queue. We add new models regularly.

How long is my offer valid?

Every quote is locked for 21 days from the moment it's generated. Accept and ship within that window and we honor the price, as long as the device matches your description. After 21 days, we re-price at current market — could go up or down.

Shipping

Is shipping really free both ways?

Yes. We pay for inbound shipping (the label we email you after acceptance). If your device doesn't match your description and you decline our revised offer, return shipping is also on us.

How do I package my laptop?

A padded box with bubble wrap or foam around the device works best. Original packaging is ideal but not required. Avoid loose packing peanuts directly against screens. Insurance is included up to the offer value.

What if my package gets lost in transit?

When you use our prepaid label and package the device reasonably, we bear the risk of loss or damage in inbound transit — and on the way back to you if a return is needed. If a package is lost or damaged before it reaches us, we file the claim with the carrier and still honor your full offer value; you're not penalized.

Inspection and payment

How fast do I get paid?

Same business day as inspection. Inspection typically happens within 1 business day of arrival. Total time from drop-off to payment: usually 3–5 business days.

What payment methods do you offer?

PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or paper check. PayPal and Venmo are instant. Zelle depends on your bank. Check is mailed same day, arrives in 3–7 days.

What if you find something wrong with my laptop?

We send you a revised offer with photos and a clear explanation. You have 3 days to accept it or decline. If you decline, we ship the device back at our cost.

What if I disagree with the inspection result?

If our inspector grades your device differently than your description, we'll send you a revised offer with photos and notes explaining the difference. You have three options: accept the revised offer, have the device shipped back to you at no cost, or contact us to dispute the finding — we review every dispute manually within 1 business day.

Condition and what we accept

What if my battery is dying?

We still buy it. Battery is its own question in the quote — it doesn't change your condition tier, it's a separate deduction shown on your offer. Answer it honestly and the offer already accounts for it.

Will you take a laptop that won't power on?

No — we currently only buy laptops that power on and are in Fair or better condition. Devices that don't boot have very low resale value, often less than the cost to refurbish them.

Do I need original packaging or accessories?

Original box and accessories add modest value but aren't required. The condition questionnaire asks about them and adjusts the offer accordingly.

Data and privacy

What happens to my personal data?

You're responsible for wiping your device before shipping. We strongly recommend signing out of all accounts, disabling Find My / Activation Lock, and factory resetting. On receipt, we wipe again to industry standard as part of the refurbishment process, but the primary responsibility is yours.

What if I forget to wipe my laptop?

We'll wipe it as part of the refurbishment process. But we strongly recommend wiping it yourself first — once it's in transit, we can't pause the process for you to retrieve files.

Edge cases

Can I cancel after I accept the offer?

Yes, as long as you haven't shipped yet. If you've already shipped, just refuse the inspection — we'll send it back at our cost.

What if your inspection finds my laptop is locked?

A firmware or BIOS password, a corporate IT (MDM) lock, or a carrier financing lock can make a device unsellable. If we receive a locked device, we contact you with instructions to unlock it. If we can't resolve it within 30 days, the device is recycled per our Terms of Service.
